Ice Diver (PSD)
The Ice Diver Course will allow the Public Safety Diver to use their skills in a cold water and over head environment. Anytime there is any ice present on the surface of the water, ice diving protocols and procedures need to be followed! During the course you will learn about the special equipment that is need for these diving protocols and procedures to be ran smoothly. It will also teach you about site preperation and the different weather conditions you may encounter. This course will educate the Public Safety Diver in all phases of an Ice Diving operation.(course minimum – 6 candidates)

What You Learn…
The IANTD PSD Ice Diver Course will focus on training, such as, Ice evaluation, Hole cutting, Diver deployment, Communication & Signals, Safety diver duties, Line Tender Duties, Search patterns, Emergency & Lost Diver procedures, and Hole closing & marking. You will also learn about cold water physiology, hypothermia, hazards and emergency procedures, buoyancy and trim awareness, and proper weighting.
What You Need…
You will use basic Public Safety Diving equipment including BCD, Regulator, Full Face Mask (optional), Extra Mask (if using a Full Face Mask), Depth & Pressure Gauge, 2 – 80 cu. Ft. Tanks, Weight system (harness type), Fins, Drysuit, Equipment bag or box, Reel w/ 100′ of #36 line, Marker Float or 50# lift bag, Dry Suit w/ Dry Hood, Proper under garments, Dry gloves for contaminated water, Diver & Surface Communication, Redundant Air Source (13 to 20 cu. Ft. tank & Regulator or switch block), 2 – Cutting devices located on the upper body, and Proper training on all your equipment.
Prerequisites…
- Advanced Open Water Diver Certification or equivalent
- 18 Years or Older
- Dry Suit Diver Certification and/or 20 or more logged dry suit dives
- Full Face Mask Diver Certification and/or 20 or more logged dives on your full face mask
