Coral walls or sunken shipwrecks may tempt you to descend a bit more, or maybe, the depth lures you simply because it is there. It is rare that a diver has not felt the urge to dive deep. With that urge for greater depths may come more potential hazards. Some of these deep diving hazards are not obvious; the untrained and unaware diver may not recognize them.
Underwater Dive Center’s Deep Diver specialty teaches you the techniques that make recreational deep diving safe and fun.
During the course, you will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to safely enjoy diving between the depths of 60 feet to 130 feet. The Deep Diver Specialty course consists of four open water dives and is intended to serve as a safe, supervised introduction to deeper diving within the limits of recreational scuba diving.

What You Learn…
- Deep scuba diving equipment considerations
- Techniques for diving in the deeper range of 60-130 feet
- Experience in planning, organizing and making at least four deep dives under the supervision of your PADI Instructor
What You Need…
You use all the basic scuba gear including a dive computer, dive light, and some additional accessories. You may want to purchase or rent a pony bottle.
The Learning Materials You Need…
PADI Deep Diver Book (included in the course fee).
In addition to previewing skills you will practice with your instructor, the materials serve as a reference guide for deep diving in a variety of conditions and environments. You’ll also find the answers to common questions such as :
- Is it true that ascending no faster than your bubbles is a good ascent rate?
- Can a slow ascent replace a safety stop?
Prerequisites…
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or have a qualifying certification from another organization)
- Be 15 years or older
