Great Lakes

There are numerous wrecks in the Great Lakes. Schooners and Steamers from the post Civil War decade are my favorite targets. In that time period the maritime industry was changing so rapidly. There are many nautical innovations that are only found in this small time window.

Most Memorable Dive:

A Civil War Blockade Runner that is off the South Carolina Coast. It is listed on the charts as a Post Civil War merchant ship. Many people have dove it, but few know what it is.

Diving for me is about exploring sites where few have gone. But in this case it’s about being on a site where no one knows what it is. There is a lot of cargo buried in the sand that people swim over and never know that it’s there. It’s historical significance adds to it for sure.
